What is anesthesia?

Giving medications including intra venous and gases causing deep coma like state so that the pain, awareness is abolished with good muscle relaxation. Any side effects of anesthesia? Usually not but certain high risk groups of people with neuro muscular disorders, poor heart function, poor general health can have complications of anesthesia. Blood pressure may go down and cardiac arrest can happen but all these can be managed by a good anesthesiologist. Pre anesthesia check up: it is the detailed check up for assessing the eligibility and risk of the person before under going anesthesia. Spinal anesthesia: injecting the chemical agent lignocaine into spinal fluid can produce good pain relief below abdomen and in both legs but cannot be used for chest or large abdominal surgeries.
